Mafalda is one of those DJs you stumble across and instantly fall in love with.

Originally from Portugal, Mafalda grew up listening to music and started to learn English from her father aged 5 so that she could translate Pet Shop Boys lyrics. She moved to London two years ago and immersed herself in London’s music scene – first inspired by seeing Sadar Bahar and Floating Points play together at Corsica Studios, she became a regular at the latter’s Plastic People party and early You’re a Melody parties.

Jump forward to 2017 and Mafalda is running Melodies International with Sam Shepherd (aka Floating Points) which is rapidly becoming one of the most highly regarded reissue labels out there. She’s also organising the You’re A Melody parties – from humble beginnings at Plastic People the most recent in the series took place at St John-At-Hackney in East London with Antal, Mafalda, Red Greg and Floating Points playing Soul, Gospel, Brazilian and Jazz Dance to over 1000 people. Resident Advisor’s Stephen Titmus wrote in his review that “as the final record played out […] it was hard to shake the feeling that this party had been something truly special.” In 2017 the You’re A Melody party will travel around the world.

Aside from digging, licensing and re-releasing some of the best lost records from the last century, Mafalda frequently appears on the radio including Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM and is touring much of Europe in 2017.

Resident Advisor named Mafalda’s Colectivo Futurecast the 8th best mix of 2016.

In 2017 Mafalda is already booked to play shows in Lyon, London, Stockholm, Paris, Portugal and at Dimensions Festival, Sunfall Festival and Worldwide Festival.
