Cervo is the co-founder and music brain behind club night and label Banana Hill purveyors of afrocentric, global dancefloor sounds past, present & future. The night, originally located in Sheffield but now travelling all over the UK, built a special identity rooted in groove and percussion, and threading creative connections through jazz, disco, afrobeat, kwaito, techno, house, soul, kuduro, footwork and more. It is this same dynamism and global inquisitiveness that defines Cervo as a DJ – it isn’t any surprise that he’s played alongside the likes of Gilles Peterson, Move D, Marcellus Pittman, Quantic, Tama Sumo, Call Super, DJ Marfox and many others, as well as forming Global Roots Soundsystem with Thris Tian of Boiler Room / Worldwide.
His early production work released by Seven Davis Jr on R2 Records was critically well received and he has since released a number of unstoppable edits of music by artists from Sierra Leone, Togo and Ivory Coast. In 2017 Cervo takes it to the next level with an EP on Marcel Vogel’s Lumberjacks in Hell imprint, and releases on Mawimbi, the new Banana Hill imprint and as part of the Beating Heart project (also featuring music by Afriquoi, Clap! Clap!, Luke Vibert and Machinedrum among others).
